Make Ready - Revised German - Birds of Paradise

Make Readies are printed scraps created during the process of calibrating the printing presses. They are a normal part of the production process, but are supposed to be discarded once the press has been calibrated.

This Birds of Paradise was a make ready for the first German language Magic cards. One of the press workers was excited to see Magic cards in his native language and took this scrap card and some others home instead of discarding them.

The complete set of German Revised Make Readies does not exist...only the cards that this particular press worker saved. And of the different cards that exist, there are varying quantities of each, though no more than few of any individual card. There exist a total of 5 German Revised make ready Birds of Paradise.

The press worker who took this card enjoyed signatures and managed to get a few of his make readies, including this one, autographed by the artist. Although this card superficially resembles an artist proof (due to the blank back and signature), it is in fact a Make Ready. There were no artist proofs made for German Revised Edition.
